My submission for Illustration Friday's Angels and Devils is a dimensional resined painting called "Flying Home". Some of you might remember an illustrated version that I used for IF's Free theme. This is one of my most popular images so I have done it in every medium and colour combo you can think of.

This pink house is an Angel flying back home to the hood and the Devil lives next door...
Flying Home:Resin, Wood and Foam copyright 1992
I can see why it's so popular. I just love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Valerie!
ReplyDeleteYou are the master of bright colors! I really like your flying house... a lot!
This is really cool!! Love the 3 dimension quality, and the expression on the flying house ... it sound s strange, but your houses always full of fun characters!
ReplyDeleteThis is the greatest!! This leaves Dorothy's traveling house back in the Kansas dust!
ReplyDeleteanother lovely image and catchy title; you never cease to amaze
ReplyDeleteLove the colors! I loved the Free version, too with Babs waiting patiently on the stoop.
ReplyDeleteVal, I just love your little houses, they are so imaginative and wonderful.
ReplyDeleteVal, another wonderful whimsical home full of life!!! The only thing- I cant imagine any of the houses as the devil since all your homes are so inviting!!!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteVal there is nothing you haven't thought of or done.
ReplyDeleteYes all your homes are inviting devil or no devil.
Awesome, girlfriend! I'll take one of those little pink houses anyday.
An angelhouse! What fervid imagination and creativity you've got, valgalart. Nreighbours are not always the ones you'd choose if you could, arent' they?
ReplyDeleteI love this...that house is so sweet!
ReplyDeleteWell howdy neighbor, glad you finally figured out my identity ! Did you bring back some Angel food cake for me ? I baked you some Devils' food brownies...

Flying houses - and beautiful artwork. I love the 3-d effect what a fun idea. It takes wonderful talent to give a house such expression. Great job.
ReplyDeletetotally wicked! i love what you did here in 3-d.. very whimsical, very cool!
ReplyDeleteYour work is always fun and your colours are so luminous - well done!
ReplyDeleteAs usual, tons of comments... and very worthy of all the praise is your illustration. I love his little house wings, and the colour.
ReplyDeleteAwesome work. The houses have a dreamlike feel.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous picture - your colour-sense is so wonderful! I remember your "Free" picture and this is thematically related (as you point out). Fascinating technique you've got there as well!
ReplyDeleteglad to hear that you appreciate shadow puppets...it's a real amazing show...and amazingly funny are your flying houses!
ReplyDeleteNow thats a great house and it must have flying carpets inside too... how dreamy (I'm more on a fairy story kick at the moment than the angels etc!)
ReplyDeleteThe desire for this piece is understandable. Your way with color is inspiring, and your unique takes. I think your little pink angel house has got it's work cut out and knows it from the expression, i'm sure it will be okey, I can't imagine anything evil happenining in any of the places you take us.
ReplyDeleteyou have wonderful style :)
ReplyDeleteI can totally see why people love this...it's so whimsical. I think it reaches inot childhood dreams about having things fly...what could be more fun than a flying house? As always, your colors are delishhhhh and the mood is happy.
ReplyDeleteFun painting! I love the 3D quality and the cotton candy colors.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done, Val. It makes me wish that all houses could be so colorful. It would be a much more colorful world then.
ReplyDeleteWell we can't always choose are neighbours. Great house, also looks like it's done a hard day's night of angelling. A hovering house is very rare in these parts.
ReplyDeleteOh boy I lived in that hood and I got out! Love your version much more though as always.
ReplyDeleteThis pink angel house is really cute! Its "facial" expression is just lively!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of fun this image is! Sometimes I wish my apartment would sprout wings and fly to Spain for a nice vacation.
ReplyDeleteToo cool! When can you come to my house and do a mural like this? I love the colors and subject matter!
ReplyDeleteWhat a freeflying marvel! Such personality and zing!
ReplyDeletehehehe! Hilarious and original way of seeing it Valery! Loved it!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic art!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my blog.
I like the 3D effect here and also the way you paint around the edges with gallery wrap canvas in general. I am also getting to where I don't use frames. What did we do before gallery wrap?
what an absolute dream...
ReplyDeletethe colour that bursts out. your translations in the thoughts. and the angelic playfulness in the way you captured!
truely amazing. truely beautiful.

ReplyDeleteLOVE the 3D!...and, as always...your colors take my breath away! :) I'd love to visit your world...it is probably bright and cheery all of the time, just like your paintings!
ReplyDeleteThe Flying Home is funny...its expression is like a surprise or shout!
ReplyDeleteAnd...it's a little creepy... I couldn't draw a flying house...it frightens me....sorry, hehehe.
Love 3D sensation...!
