" If you surrendered to the air, you could ride it" ~Toni Morrison
My submission for Illustration Friday's "surrender" theme is a dimensional painting. Liquitex acrylics on wood panel with wood frame, foamboard building, handmade paper shingles and clay chimney and door handle. The painting is called Home in the Woods.

Very cool. I dig it. I thought it was a box at first.
ReplyDeleteWould make an awesome box. You could paint a house for each season on each side, put it in a cubby hole, and just rotate it through-out the year.
Anyhow, good job! Very charming.
Ah...looks a bit sad, this home!
ReplyDelete:D
ReplyDeleteI love this dimensional painting :)
The roof is amazing and of course the birds also. The owl is soo cute :)
Fabulous, Valerie. I can't believe you incorporated so many materials! And it's a great quote.
ReplyDeleteholy woodsyeowza! look at all the detail! :D that chimney is really really cute! so ya know, my grandma jones was in love with owls…(she was my favorite grandma) and anytime i see an owl, my heart just melts thinking of her.
ReplyDeleteshe would have just loved seeing that full belly fella in the window there… :D
i really dig how this cozy little wood home feels even more cozy because it's tucked safely inside the frame…

I agree with ALL your other comments. So clever -- love the frame idea.

ReplyDeleteWonderful job!
ReplyDeleteThis is so lovely! I would love to hold it and feel all the textures and those paper shingles. You always create such an amazing mood with each of your pieces. I look at these and picture you creating and thinking and waiting for stuff to dry so you can keep going. The video you shared makes these creations even more special.
