click for a close-up view

My Submission for Illustration Friday's Cake is from my 2003 HomeMade calendar. The title of this painting is "Home Baked" and is for the month of June. You know, a June wedding? The quote is: A House is not beautiful because of it's walls but because of it's cakes. ~old Russian proverb~

  30. I guess that´s why they call some Russian architecture "sugar cake"! (Like the style of the Russian embassy in Berlin.) This is a very romantic entry, with the swans in the foreground as the perfect symbol for a life-long marriage. A perfect June entry!

  34. What a beautiful piece of work! The details and the amazing delicate colors you chose-I love that pond. Kind of a shame these two lovebirds are going to take up residence, because the cake really does look good enough to eat. Love the grooms top hat and tails.

  39. You must live in the most beautiful house of all. This one is yummy....but what is yours like? Is it surrounded by rose bushes and trees full of birds singing their little hearts out? Are there blue skies above and pretty pink and white clouds?

    Your illustration is delightfully delicious!

Oh, and thanks for the comments on the elves in my cake... Yes, Doctor, now I'm seeing faces in there, too! All thanks to you! Now where did I put those drugs from my lost youth? Maybe they can make the faces go away.
