Illustration Friday: backwards
Some folks like the bright lights, big city. nightclubs and swanky eateries. Call me backwards, but I love a small town any day. My submission for Illustration Friday's "backwards" prompt.
My Scribbleguild group is sending out a winter mailer and this is the image I made for the project. Acrylic on Canson Airbrush paper. Please click on image to view it larger*

By the way, check out my "Puff The Magic Dragon" post on my blog if you have a moment...I woud love to hear your answers since we are not all that far apart in age. It's been a lot of fun reading everyone's contributions.
Beautiful. It reminds me of that movie 'Peeing In The Snow' or was it'Singing Down The Drain'? Happy Holidays Val Gal. You are the best. Bad Dog

So cute and warm and well-detailed!
Looks like a place I'd love to go because I feel that way too.
What more could a person need! It's wonderful.
lovely houses
I like small towns too! How did you ever come up with the movement of the buildings? It really enhances the effect of a small town full of charm and coziness.
beautiful illo ... I am a 'province' guy also - cannot feel well in non-human dimensions.
The first toy house looks like is alive.. and it is the same with the coffee one.. wonderful piece!!
This looks like Brown County, Indiana. And since it is snowing here today, I bet it matches even more. I swear you must have been here before...
Oh I am SO with you on this Val! Consider me there :)
Love the sweet home town feeling you captured.
Oh, me too. And this looks so cozy!
Beautiful and sweet buildings, Valerie! Wish to be there!
excellent and humorous as usual...what is the average size of your works?...(I like small towns as well)
I live in a big city and the magic of your illustration is for me very poignant (sorry for online translation)
I agree here, too. I live in a small town with a quaint Main Street like this. We even have a bookstore! And a toy store! In megastore times, this is refreshing. Happy Holidays to you as well, Val! :-)
Beautiful!

Another very satisfying painting. I'd love to live in a world like this. xxx
Awesome work as usual Val. Long live the small town. Said the man living in a very, very small town indeed.
Small town living is new again - that's why I live in one! Thanks for the reminder on the pleasures!
The rain is almost making the San Fernando Valley seem cozy...almost!
What a warm, fuzzy place you've created. I want to be there right now.
