Illustration Friday: Tales and Legends

"Venetian Nite" is my submission for Illustration Friday's "Tales and Legends". It is a dimensional painting I made for a friend that I traveled with in Italy. This is a scene from Venice. We rode in a gondola every night so I have many impressions of the buildings in the water at night. Many Tales and Legends have been written and told about the beauty, charm and intrigue in Venice.

Remember how fun Venice was and how many gondola rides we took? I want all of us to go to Prague together because you will LOVE the architecture there too.

Sighs... The Bridge of Sighs!
I haven't been to Venice yet.
As they say in Italian: "Un di questi giorni."
Lovely piece, Val.
I see the cat is still after the fish!

i like how you made the texture of the buildings and the colors to differentiate the uniqueness of each. You have given it some touch of old and modern impression.

your friend is lucky to have this.

This is such a beautiful painting Val! I just love Venice and found it to be truly one of the most magical places to ever visit. You've captured it so well here! =)

Oh now that's clever. It took my tired old eyes a minute or two to realise that the painting merges into the frame - almost an optical illusion.
This is another perfect confection. You should take up icing cales!

Venice seems like a place that is out of tale or legend. Nice painting; as usual I like the use of color alot.

That's just magical! I've always wanted to go to Venice (the Venetian in Las Vegas just isn't the same I suspect.) Your painting is making want to book a flight right now!
