Illustration Friday: voices

The voices inside "The Light Stays On" found their way into my heart and I loved painting this image of the "magic cottage" for Karen Jasper. I hope you can treat yourself or someone you know with a copy available through the author, Amazon.com or BarnesandNoble.com. Karen has a paypal link at the top of her blog and you can buy the book right from her page and she would be happy to sign it for you as well. I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays and having winter fun!

Val - I just love what you did with this cover! I have seen the Magic Cottage in person, and I adore how you've given it that dancing happy feeling your houses have. I am definitely going to buy Karen's book - it's so exciting that she done this, and so wonderful that you did the cover. Happy Holidays to you :)

Dear Val,
Here's what I wrote on KJ's blog.

"The cover, as well as the story are both magical! The way Val painted the warm light that eminates from the magic cottage embodies the light and love that shines from the story. I'm so glad I was lucky enough to have held this in my hand, and now I hold it in my heart. Thank you both ;)
Alex, Lily, Mike, Andy and Amy...and you too Rebecca, you've left an indelible mark."

And Val, the song is one of my favorites, either by Joni or this duet(of which I own both.)You always make me want to linger :)

My favorite is the garden...and the way you've brought light from inside the home.

Very inviting.

Love the feel for this, it almost feels like the house is animated. It has such a warm inviting over tone to the piece. Very nice.

Beautiful image Valerie, I really like the way the tree is almost hugging the house and the gentle drapes that frame the image. Adorable, hope I end up in a home like that.

Wow- beautiful work, Valerie! Just love the way the house and the tree are leaning into each other.

This is so gorgeous! I love how it's all framed by a delicate, barely perceptible, lace curtain.

Hope you have the best holiday ever, Val!!

Your little houses and cottages and storefronts have so much life and charm and whimsy. They are characters all their own. What a beautiful cover for what, I'm sure, is a beautiful book. I must check it out.

Have an excellent holiday season, my friend, full of love and laughter and warmth.

Val, you rendered that magic cottage with true magic. What a wonderful, loving gesture and I know Karen loves it. You make everything you touch beautiful, you probably can't help it because you are a beautiful person and I love you. There is cheer radiating throughout my house from the corner where your Noah's ark hangs. Merry Christmas to you and yours my beloved, dearest friend.
