I kind of drove myself a bit crazy with this prompt and since I am busy it was a good excuse to avoid it all together but in the end I remembered this painting and thought it is the kind of street that you would expect to see a detective. I had to post something...
My submission for Illustration Friday's "detective" theme is an acrylic painting on wood panel called "Rendezvous". Whew down to the wire ;)

A very colourful submission Valerie, and I think it works well for the theme.
What was that line from Casablanca that Bogie delivers. Your painting seems like an upscale version of that
place, maybe Paris. Enchante.

I knew you could pull it off!!
This reminds me a little bit of the Strumpet street. :o)
Wonderful colours. Beautifully done.
Well I don't know in which cafe could happen the Rendezvous.
I like these houses and this is one thing I know
:D
I like the irregular shapes of everything. It seems like a detective will pop outta one of the dustbins as a hiding spot hehe.
I love this one!
AHA! this is the first time i disagree with you! i would feel quite safe on this street and in fact i would like to live on your magical street.
i love you, my friend.

There is only one trash can in this illustration, the other one is really the detective who has gone undercover to observe, undetected himself.
It's perfect! I knew you'd come through. ;)
Good for you Val! I like this one a lot - for me, it's the lamplight that makes it work for the detective theme!
Ohhhhhhhhhhh...!!!!
Una ciudad preciosa, sería fantastico vivir en un sitio así. Besos, besos.
Your houses always have such personality! This does look like a scene from a detective thriller :)
This is such a delightful illustration!!!
very noir!

.... eheheh this is the perfect street that I would expect to see my little detective ;o)
