Illustration Friday: Free
This illustration is my idea of "Free". This was always the cover for every year of my "HOMEMADE" calendar. I have painted this theme in many ways, drawings, dimensional paintings and with different colour combinations so I feel this is my signature painting that best shows what I do and who I am. The real title of this painting is "Flying Home". It' s about finding that place inside of ourselves where we feel adventurous enough to be free but we can always go to that deeper place inside that is safe and feels like home!
this painting was reproduced in the form of calendar and prints/copyright 1999 may not be reproduced without permission

Fantastic, Val! A painting that I can appreciate for its fine design qualities and also make me chuckle is a real keeper.
Oh, your drawings are as delicious as a strawberry cake! Thank you very much for your comment :)
Another artist. This is exciting. Art inspires me, gets me thinking.
I like the seemingly child-like style of this one...yet...there's the whole concept of 'freedom' behind it.
Interesting, only this morning I was chatting with an elderly gentleman about freedom.
Thanks for letting me know about your work.
Love it! Flying home has two meanings! Hurrying home and just travelling... Both concepts are wonderful!
And I love the cat and birds waiting on the steps...
Val, you're a gem of an artist!
very sweet!!!! and nice, as always i like your illustrations a lot,
they re very cute!
Interesting idea. Glad you found your style.
And thanks for visiting my blog. :)
Lovely! I love the colors! :-)
Wow!
Your at es VERY original, ValGal - some of them look like dreams.
Very nice.
And thank you for your visit!
Great idea i like it so much, and has too much meanings is great!
lovely illo
Wonderful illustration. Is that a Spanish-style stucco coming in for a landing? Love the cat waiting for the arrival. We have an orange tiger cat who waits for us diligently at the end of the walk.
This is such a wonderful flight of fancy (really, no pun intended)! Your colors are so pretty and your free imagination is a delight to behold!
I like the cat waiting, too.Very nice!
I simply love your whimsical style.
Your colors are always fun.
Love it
Very funny and beautifully colourful too.
I too love the whimsical feel to this illustration. Your choice of colors are vibrant - It makes me want to fly too! Beautiful!
What a great idea and a nice illustration.
What a wonderful thought. I love the colors and the whimsical style. I love that little pet waiting at the stoop.
this is terrific...! Definitely "houses" on the lam, even though they aren't houses like I've seen anywhere... except maybe on that street in Edward Scissorhands. No mid-century modern ranches there! I don't believe I've seen your art before... I loved the Venice "diorama" as well as your work (and life) ethic. Hope all is well in Topanga!
I love how you adapt your style to the different topics. I'm sure it has taken you a long time to develop your talent and now it must seem like a natural way to create and develop your ideas.
this does look like a fun happy place. A good place to learn to fly freely. Wonderful colours!
