Illustration Friday: Cat

This is my submission for cat. I use this cat in a lot of my work and her name is babs. This illustration comes from my 2004 HomeMade calendar and the title is "Alpine Haus". I include a spot illustration and a quote on the page that holds the days of the month. I love this quote: Her house... was as pretty as narcissus in the snow, as pretty as a silver feather on a pane of winter glass. -Beverly Nicholson

I wonder if babs is considering whether it is a good idea to venture outside today. I can imagine her taking her first step and skaking her little paw to get the snow off.

I love the warm colours against the snow. Very unusual but very effective! Now *that's* creativity.

Babs is (sure) the most pampered cat in the world.
He looks paying a lot of attention to the snow and the street.
Beautiful work, beautiful.

Val you have such a nice style. well done as always!

I like how you have animated inanimate objects, your houses and streets and scenes seem to have as much character as your subject. Which is cool, because your not really sure what the subject is. The viewer can decide. It's not really about the cat.... or is it. We can make up our own story about Babs. Fun.

Very Cool Cat indeed.

That's the best way to enjoy the snow...from the nice toasty window!

oh i love the cat in the window. before i clicked on it and saw it larger, i mistook the cat for a bow in the window. What a sweet surprise to find that adorable cat peering out the window. Really love your work!

Very adorable kitty Val. I have a real thing for black and white cats. I had two, one named Boots and the other Pip.

Haha, all cold and snowy outside and the cat warm inside. Cat is so tiny in the window yet so very there as well, he/ she looks funny and cute because of this. ...::: )
