Illustration Friday: Feet

My submission for Illustration Friday's topic: Feet is an illustration from my 2002
HomeMade calendar for the month of April. The title is "Bath House".
The quote I used is "Housekeeping ain't no joke." ~Louisa May Alcott

Val - it just blows my mind that every week you have something that is absolutely perfect for the topic. You don't even have to twist or stretch to get your painting to fit the topic! This is really funny...it reminds me of that children's book, Amelia Bedelia ... Amelia takes everything literally....when she's told to "dust the furniture," she sprinkles powder on it, etc. It's really funny. I love the humor in this image, and the quote seals the deal.

I love it, and I know the minute I tell my beetle character Hattie she will swoon over it! It had not occurred to her you could put a whole house into the bathtub. You are inspirational to both of us :)

Bathtub feet. Bathtub with house inside. Woman scrubbing house. Reference to poetry. Likey.

This is one of my favourites of yours yet! And I wish I could clean my house like this...

Aha! Claw-footed bathtub! It took me awhile to figure out while I was enjoying it for what it is. Like Carla said, this also reminds me of Amelia Bedelia.

It's wonderful and originaĆ² Who would think of that? But you did. After all the house, too, needs a good bath. Delightful.

In France there is a song which says:
It's a blue house leaned with the hill, one comes there a foot, on does not stike, those which live on lost there the key...
Your drawing is very beautiful.
I like blue.
Good weekend

I love the painting...but it makes me a little sad to see that clawfoot tub. When we moved from our home three years ago to where we are now, we left a gorgeous home built in 1888 behind, complete with two lovely bathrooms that had the original clawfoot tubs. Now we are blessed with the new "plastic." How lovely.

Question, does she hire out? I had a great aunt, I spent summers with when I was very young, she had a freestanding tub like this, not sure if it had three toes or ten toes, or four or one hundred, I do know I didn't appreciate the beauty of it then-but I remember it. Your paintings bring sweet memories to us, a rare thing.

Ha ha!! It looks like you might have a brilliant idea here on how to more quickly clean the house. This way, the living room and kitchen downstairs get a good soaking and you can just shower nozzle the upper floors! Beautiful painting.

Inspirational...which I need because the theme feet has me stumped. I love your illustrations, always uplifting and wonderful. I too wish I could clean my house like this. Great job.

Val, like Carla it blows my mind also. You always find just he right image. I love claw tubs. When I was pregnant, about 7 months, with my first son I was visiting my Mom and for some reason we were chating in the bathroom and I was sitting on the edge of the claw foot tub and fell backwards and got stuck with my legs hanging over the edge. We laughed so hard and it took a couple of pulls to get me up. thanks for the memory.

What a beautiful piece. You have such control over your airbrush. And such patience when others are doing the same effects digitally now, like me. I used to use my Badger, and my Paache AB all the time. I haven't used it in years... all that frisketing!
