Illustration Friday: Robot

Babs loves this movie, Charlie wants to change the channel

This is my submission for Illustration Friday's "Robot". This was a bit of a challenge today! I wish I had made that Mechanical House with the flailing arms, I knew it would come in handy some day! This is a greeting card that I made for Marisol's every day line.

As usual - a delight; And I wondered how you were going to handle this weeks subject; it is fun to get to know the artists here and contemplate thier take on each.

I wondered how you would do it, too.(but I never doubted you would!) I like the whole thing...the wood floor and the texture of the fringed rug...and this could have passed for the "Spotted" category, too. The spots/dots on the couch really pop out at you.

Wonderful illustration. Love the animals watching the tube.

Got caught up reading your post below this... great Hollywood story. Yes, Peckinpah is legend. 'The Wild Bunch' is a favorite.

Oh, that's funny ! Hey, you know what I just noticed, that tv has an antenna so that means this is a broadcast movie instead of a cable or satalite reciever.

Retro robots, or rise of the nostalgic...
Either way, wonderful work !

It's fun to see the interior of your houses from time to time as well. Everything looks comfy and cozy, I think Charlie should leave Babs alone, she's made a good viewing choice. Wonderfulfun!

You did it again, Val! You have such an amazing collection of fabulous work...each one tells a story, evokes a mood, creates a total experience in the details you include. The robots are great, but I just love the cat on top of the chair (such a cat thing to do), the cute dog, and the little bird on the rug. Excellent choice for this week's topic...a soft and homey take on robots:>

Beautiful design, Val. You're so good with that airbrush! I put my Paache and Badger away when I was introduced to Photoshop.

I love the little balls that are hanging off of the upholstery on the couch. Everything here is just jumping off the page!

By the way, regarding your sweet comment: I had a copy of Joan Walsh Anglund's A Friend is Someone Who Likes You and Love is a Special Way of Feeling when I was a kid. I used to copy her style of drawing -the mouthless cuties with little dot eyes- over and over in my school notebooks. Thanks for reminding me of her wonderful stuff...
