Illustration Friday: Spotted

My submission for Illustration Friday's topic Spotted is from my 2003 HomeMade calendar, for the month of September. The title is "Log Home". I chose this painting because I spotted some spotted deer standing in the dappled forest.
The quote: I go into the wilderness and rediscover the home within. ~China Galland

DOOD!.....you are a total SUPER FREAK! (in a very good way...).
How many paintings do you have??????!!!!! Just amazing...I tell ya. You have art for just about everything.
You know, I just got the "Dood" thing...it took me a couple times of seeing it, but realized you probably called me 'dood' because of my 'doodlestreet' name, DUH! But I'll just call you 'dood' back...it can be our little thing. Hahahaha...."DOOD!"

I love the idea of taking one big log to make the log home--so clever!! Love the deer to complete the picture.

So, Val, do you sell your calendars???

Val, I really like this, especially the light coming through the trees! On a vacation once, my family walked through a cabin made out of a section of a single redwood.(I have a picture somewhere). It was really neat, with built in bunks and drawers.(It was part of a traveling Ripleys Museum display).

The light coming through the trees makes the forest look like skyscrapers and the spotted lights look like little windows.

There is a home for everyone.

This is so cozy and magical and pretty and wonderful...The background with the loght coming therough the trees is like lots of little eyes looking into that clearing. Your imagination creates such incredible places...they all really do feel like home (that wasn't really meant to be a pun)...they vibe is always that good! I love the colors in this one, too!

So sweet. The light dappled forest almost looks like a hidden city in the woods there. A magical world, indeed.

Twisselman said...

Okay, this one is my favorite ValGal art so far. And you used the adjective that sprang to mind upon seeing the 'dappled' forest... so you see, I used it anyway. Yes, this is a place we dream about. Cool.

It's lovely to see another one of your magical houses. If I ever earn enough money to buid a house, I'll be coming to you to design it for me.

This one looks much more pixie-like than the ones with 4 walls. I love the dappled light through the trees and the safe, quiet, warm feel to it.
