Illustration Friday: Dance

This is my submission for Illustration Friday's "Dance". This painting is a blast from my past and is titled "Flamingo Tango". I did many of these flamingo characters and paintings and they were all purchased by some of my more "out there" patrons. This was painted in 1989. The boy is my friend Paul (he looks just like this guy) and his girl Barb, dancing the tango with the fishes.

This is fantastic ValGal ! Instead of 'FlashDance' it's 'SplashDance' ! I luv how they are actually dancing in that shallow pool of water. This would look great as an animated sequence if Disney did a third 'Fantasia' movie experiment.

Here'z hoping that Disney calls you soon...

Very funny! (And I like Steve's comment: Splashdance.) You have an endless supply of images. You must be a really hard worker. Thanks for the grin.

This is great. I thought about making tango-ing frogs, but it would not have compared. Love this!

I wonder what Paul thinks when he sees himself portrayed as a dancing flamingo.... I once had a client who went to Spain and couldn't stop talking about the "flamingo" dancers. He was so sweet and sincere I never told him about the Flamenco dancers.

Your illustration is full of life, color and so much fun!

You are amazing - This is so funky and awesome! I love the colors you use and the way you painted them standing/dancing in the water. Beautiful and so fun to see your work from all different years.

Yes, I was lookin' for houses, too. These two make a great couple. Wonderful.

Your imagination is fairly amazing. a shame it can't be bottled and purchased. These characters based on your friends make them all the more interesting to me and fun. The atmosphere-the stars, the desert colors, then with the contrast of the cool pond-beautiful stuff. I like those pyramids to, they are a kind of house-housing anyway for deceased pharoahs. You never dissapoint!

The colours and textures are so rich! I love the under water life too, you paint excellent fish.

Oh yeah! Wacky and fantastic. There's something geometrically defiant about this painting. Lots of fun!

I get the feeling that she is quite the possessive one. Not that he is not enjoying it. Is there a better place to dance tango but under a sky of stars? You could call it the "Moonlight Flango". A touch of romance, a touch of hilariousness!
