Illustration Friday: brave

My submission for Illustration Friday's "brave" is a cropped version of my idea of "Home of the Brave". I had to crop an illustration I have already submitted before because I am pressed for time but I love to submit for the word :D it is a joy to play along each week! This is from my 2004 HomeMade calendar and it is called "Field House". I live in an area where the Chumash Indians lived.

I am taking care of Nomi and I walked her behind the house into the park and we stumbled upon

the most beautiful mushrooms. So I thought I might share a little slice of my world and it is very spring-like today :) Enjoy and have a lovely weekend!

Her there ValGal!
Love your "brave" choice. Very nice! It must be cool living near Indian territory. Love your Photos. I was smiling when I saw the mushrooms because... I keep my camera with me and whenever I see mushrooms I get a picture. :o) I just think they are so cool. These shrooms that you found are very, very cool!

Is one of those buildings your studio?
The shepherd is gorgeous. I'm glad you had doggy company! I know you still miss Ratty :(

I love the teepee! The cropping is perfect. Twilight is my favorite time of day.

I found such a quiet calming moment when I came by to see what you have done with BRAVE this week. To take a walk with you and your camera through the grassy places to see mushrooms and magical houses in the landscape and that wonderful dog as well was an unexpected delight.

It would be a treat to see the rest of the calendar, even a little bit late! What beauty there is to discover and be inspired by in the hills of So. Cal!

You need a new Nomi (or Rat) of your own! So lush and beautiful there. And what a great way to connet to "brave". :)

Another wonderful piece Val!!!
The light is amazing and I love the grass that seems to turn into a sea ... it gives me a feeling of hope but also of great loneliness.

I greatly appreciated your words on my blog: he is not a member of my family, I worked on a photo taken by a friend of mine, and we are trying to mix photo and illustration...
