Illustration Friday: Sticky

My submission for Illustration Friday's "Sticky" is from my 2004 HomeMade calendar. The title of this painting is "Home on the Range". This was for the month of August and the quote was "Good sound cooking makes a contented home".

Don't let it stick to the pan and make sure you add the sticky stuff!

mmmmm... blueberry pancakes -- one of the most requested breakfasts in my house growing up. :) if i hadn't just eaten enough for a family of four, this would probably make me hungry.

You have a house for every ocassion, huh? :)
I think it's a sign of a what a good artist you are, when I see the topic for illustration friday and all I can think of is "I can't wait to see what kind of house Val will have for THIS!"

It's always a delight to come here for IF and see what you've managed to pull out that works -- and always works so beautifully. You must have so much fun with IF! Certainly your illustrations are great. (And thanks for the encouraging words over at "my place")

Even on the weeks I'm not able to get to IF I have to come here and see what you cooked up! Hah yes pun intended. (grin)
Do you stay up late thinking up ways to do houses?
I love, love, love it.

That the house can still blow steam shows heat has no power over it! The way the oven looks is amazing!

PS: As usual I was reading your insider information in the post below with high interest. It is those details that bring history alive, or let´s say lives alive :)

That's so cute. My father made us snowmen pancakes with chocolate chip coal back when we were younglings.

Val, this is a gorgeous, really communicative picture. When I look at it, in addition to the picture itself, I see a face (formed by various elements) looking out - was this intentional?

TXArtcGal said...

Awesome job!...and not matter what, my pancakes ALWAYS stick to the pan!

I love the retro stove...and, the shine!! Great job!

OMG, I absolooootley LOVE this! The colours, the wallpaper, the stove with the clock, the way you did the frying pan, everything. I think this is my favourite of all I have seen so far.

Pancake art, how charming and evocative! I was blessed to have a father who was a master of custom shaped pancakes - Mickey Mouse, cats, dogs what have you and have carried on the tradition with my own kiddies. Thanks for conjuring up memories in such a lovely way.
