My submission for Illustration Friday's "Sticky" is from my 2004 HomeMade calendar. The title of this painting is "Home on the Range". This was for the month of August and the quote was "Good sound cooking makes a contented home".
Don't let it stick to the pan and make sure you add the sticky stuff!

Ha! I love this!....the Retro look red and white stove.....the HOUSE pancakes...and you sneaked ol Babs onto the clock!
mmmmm... blueberry pancakes -- one of the most requested breakfasts in my house growing up. :) if i hadn't just eaten enough for a family of four, this would probably make me hungry.
Very good. Love the red knobs!
Only you would think of frying up a little house! LOL Very cute and I love how you always get a house in your art.
I like the 50's feel to it. Very clever idea...the house cakes.
Yummmm..fried house! This rates top notch on the Zagat survey... ;)
IHOP. House of pancakes? Pancake?
That stove reminds me of my great great grandmothers stove! Thanks for stirring that memory for me! :)
You have a house for every ocassion, huh? :)
I think it's a sign of a what a good artist you are, when I see the topic for illustration friday and all I can think of is "I can't wait to see what kind of house Val will have for THIS!"
I'll bet the Gingerbread Dad and Mom and Gingerbread Kids who live in that pancake house are very very happy !
Plus the timer is adorable !

Your home on the range is so clever. Thanks for stopping by me.
Ha! Ha! You manage to get a house in everything! This is so bright, cheery and super homey. Lovely stuff, Val.
What a clever, funny idea, Val. I always enjoy seeing what you come up with.
aaaaaaaw i love the steam coming out of the pancake chimney! I like this one a lot
Lovely interpretation of Home on the Range, Val!
Was it a "House warming party"?
Really interesting idea Val! My eggs often stick to the pan!
Oh my goodness you even have a house for the theme sticky. I'm totally amazed. I love it. Pancakes are one of my very favorite things and this one looks yummy.
It's always a delight to come here for IF and see what you've managed to pull out that works -- and always works so beautifully. You must have so much fun with IF! Certainly your illustrations are great. (And thanks for the encouraging words over at "my place")
Your illustration makes me hungry! It's wonderful.
yum! My significant other is actually making pancakes right now, heheh! very sweet.
Very cool illo--great concept! Very well done too...nice work!

This is fabulous, Val! You have the best imagination ever:> I love the kitty on the timer, and I love the vintage stove. Just wonderful:>
Love it! Makes me smile! :)
lol it had to be U val to be able to think of cookie cutter pancakes in the shape of a house. and blueberry no less. this is great lov the steam coming outta the chimny. and very retro looking( i think thats the word to lazy to ck it sorry)
As usual, you have a interesting take on the topic. I love the steam comming from the chimney on the little house. Very clever, and thank you, always for your kind words.
Even on the weeks I'm not able to get to IF I have to come here and see what you cooked up! Hah yes pun intended. (grin)
Do you stay up late thinking up ways to do houses?
I love, love, love it.
That the house can still blow steam shows heat has no power over it! The way the oven looks is amazing!
PS: As usual I was reading your insider information in the post below with high interest. It is those details that bring history alive, or let´s say lives alive :)
Love it!!! I wasn't sure you'd have a house for this, unless it was the beehive! Very cute!
That's so cute. My father made us snowmen pancakes with chocolate chip coal back when we were younglings.
Val, this is a gorgeous, really communicative picture. When I look at it, in addition to the picture itself, I see a face (formed by various elements) looking out - was this intentional?
Awesome job!...and not matter what, my pancakes ALWAYS stick to the pan!
I love the retro stove...and, the shine!! Great job!
OMG, I absolooootley LOVE this! The colours, the wallpaper, the stove with the clock, the way you did the frying pan, everything. I think this is my favourite of all I have seen so far.
Pancake art, how charming and evocative! I was blessed to have a father who was a master of custom shaped pancakes - Mickey Mouse, cats, dogs what have you and have carried on the tradition with my own kiddies. Thanks for conjuring up memories in such a lovely way.
oh-no! I am hungry.....I am allowed to eat it.
Thanks Valerie for being so kind always.
