Illustration Friday: contained

My submission for Illustration Friday's "contained" is a diecut card created for Holiday Season 2009. Notice how I contained the houses within this lovely shape. A little different and very fun to do. I love painting holiday work , especially cards. I enjoyed creating this subdued palette as well.

Oh, yes! I love the shapes you chose to follow, especially the curvy, contained branches of the tree. That's a beautiful soft glow in the night sky.

I absolutely love how you did the tree!! Trees are a weakness of mine though. And the house looks as cozy as ever ;)

I love your work! And I love the music on your blog! It's from my era and sure took me back to hear it!

And thanks for the nice comment on my IF:Contained piece. I'm glad you enjoy my blog. I took a huge break from posting anything, and hope to do something at least once a week, just to keep in touch with the world.

when i look at your houses, i always imagine what's inside and this kind of shape gives me the idea of space and friendly corners. i like fences, too!

There is such a peacefulness in this illustration. This is the only snow I love. It's beautiful and so very soft and warm. I just want a cup of hot coco and look at this wonderful illo. Great work.

With all that snow all around I would dearly love to be contained cozy and warm by the fireplace in any one of those charming houses. Beautiful!

I love snow too, but this morning at 6 am I was not fond of shoveling a run for sweet Henry. *:)

I, specially like the branches of the tree and how it contains the stars like a basket :-)

what a neat and creative idea to make the house 'contained' by die-cuting the image!!

This is very serene and graceful. I really like the lines of the tree in the background - makes me think of a butterfly wing!

I always try to figure out how you do your pieces. This one doesn't look like airbrush, but I still can't tell how your rendered it. Beautifully done.
