Illustration Friday Holiday

The title of this painting is "Celebrate the Holidays Together"
It captures a neighborhood that is diverse. Hanukkah, Feliz Navidad, Kwanzaa and Christmas. Sorry if I forgot anybody. Diverse like all the artists that participate at Illustration Friday. IF has been a highlight this year! I feel as though I have made new friends. We don't criticize, we praise and inspire each other! It's a wonderful thing! Happy, Merry everyone.

Val, your houses really have spirit and personalities...I almost expect them to start talking! These are especially animated and happy looking, and I love your message. It is really fun to interact with a global community of artists in such a supportive way, and I too am happy for the blog friends I've made. Have a happy holiday and all the best in the new year!

This is fantastic, Val. I adore it. If you ever make Christmas cards from it let me know. It may just be enough to inspire me to write Christams cards again one day!

Have a lovely, relaxing holiday.

I love your houses:) They have beautiful colors and look like so much fun inside and out. Great job!

Shano said...

So cozy! They look like they're on a frozen lake (shanties?) I LOVE it!

Zombie Apehands said...

I like how you squeezed so much meaning out into the picture through the (seemingly) simple geometric variation of the windows. That they look lick-able like candy is nice too.

Zombie Apehands said...

I like the fact that you were able to squeeze so much meaning out of the (seemingly) simple device of geometric variation in the windows. The fact that the colors make the houses look lick-able like candy is nice too.

We 'California Girls' need this kinda snow! That is the only thing really missing here for our holiday! They first said it would be in the 80's, but now they say 70 and cloudy...brrrrrrrr! Hahahahaha...

Thank you for commenting on my blog. I see my husband (cosmos) has been here, too. Anyway...I love your style! Stop back again sometime. I'd love to compare notes about our careers. We are moving to New York next month...so I can start a new job (graphic design, packaging). I'm a few years older than you, and it's been too long since I've been a newbie on the job. Merry Merry Christmas to you!

Hey I've been thinking about moving. Santa owes me something good this christmas. I think I would like to live in this neighborhood. Though I doubt this neihborhood would want a crazy Artist like myself. There would be - nice house - nice house - great house - and "what the F%^$%"

Great work. Makes me dream of younger days when life was perfect, and I didn't have to pay for all the christmas presents.(wink)

Have a happy holiday's

It's like that line I hear a lot, Unity in Diversity.

All neighbours, all different, all standing side by side.

Twisselman said...

Yes, yes! Before I read your text, I was thinking how warm and inviting were your houses of different cultures. Wonderful detail and colors of course. Nice message. Yes, the folks posting here at Illustration Friday show diversity of style but unity of spirit. I think that's what the peace of the world depends upon. Merry Christmas.
